Father Chris Beretta
Father Beretta has been with Coach Herting since they both stepped foot on the Verot campus in 1999. Father Beretta led the JV team to 5 of the most successful seasons in school history. After taking over as Bishop Verot principal, Fr. Beretta has been an assistant coach for the varsity. Fr. Beretta is in charge of post players and post development. He has done an outstanding job. Some of the post players Father Beretta has developed include Ryan Schrotenboer, Ollie Pluss, Tyler Adams, Jared Pooley, Jeff Lampley, and Leighton Elliott. Father Beretta is also responsible for the signs above the gym doors. These signs are a big part of what "the experience" is all about. In many sacristies around the world, there is an old Catholic saying that hangs above the doors for the priests to read before they go out and start mass. The sign reads: "Pray like it is your first mass. Pray like it is your last mass. Pray like it is your only mass." Every Verot basketball player touches a sign above each door to the gym and coming out of the classroom (EVERY TIME FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES) that says:
Play like it is your first game.
Play like it is your last game.
Play like it is your only game.

Now he works with the varsity and is, without a doubt, the best post coach I have ever been around. His insight on the bench and rapport with the players is incredible. If he hadn't decided to be a principal, he would have been an tremendous head basketball coach."
